Civ IV vs. Civ V

So, summer is here which means the Steam Summer Sale is in full swing. I've been an avid Civ III player for several years, so I was very happy to see that both Civ IV and Civ V are available on discount.

The problem is, I would rather buy one, not both, and I was wondering what you guys think of either game.

I like Civ V with the new religions setup. I must admit I toss round between Civ 4 and 5 once in a while.

Civ V has the steam workshop, so there is that. More free content, as well as better graphics (if that matters).
