The Ezo Self-Defense Force
, are the unified military forces of the Republic of Ezo that were established after the Spring Revolution of 1976. From the begining the ESDF was forced to depend on tactics of irregular warfare, due to the fact that Ezo never had a modern army. The ESDF splits into four different branches; Ezo Ground Self-Defense Force, Ezo Maritime Self-Defense Force, Ezo Air Self-Defence Force and Poyutan Regional Guards (also know as Shi-gādo
meaning Death Guards).
The ESDF currently numbers 247,746 personnel, with 143,737 in the Ground Self-Defense Force, 44,327 in the Maritime Self-Defense Force, 45,517 in the Air Self-Defense Force, 1,849 in the Join Staff Office and 12,316 in the Shi-gādo
