How about everyone's favorite uniform - not soldier or country - but uniform look. Let's do top three..........also worst.
Mine:
Favorites.......
1) Duryee's Zouaves - 5th NY 1862 - just a cool colorful look.
2) 101st Airborne - WW II Normandy - Not colorful but do they look
like soldiers !
3) British Colonial Infantry in their scarlet frocks - colorful, cool and able to sing great songs when confronted by hordes of screaming Zulus.
Worst: Tie - Denmark WW II with that ridiculously large helmet - they look like Rick Moranis as Dark Helmet in Space Balls.........and Chinese Communists in winter wear Korea - they look so puffy, like ticked off Pillsbury Doughboys. |

3) SS oficers .. (with the whole shabang . .skulls .. braid .... u know )

Any Scottish Highlander uniform from 1740`s. Gotta love 1000 guys screaming at you in kilts. No wonder they called us the Lady`s from Hell.

Call me naive or whatever, but I more like the Victorian style Highlanders.
All these bear skin caps...

I agree on the 1745 Highlanders, but for generally swoopiness nothing beats a good Polish Winged Hussar. The 19th century French have the neatest most trim ones, and I belive Landsknectes have the most colourful. For general beauty, I would go with Samurai

Well to me, the best overall were of the 1900-1914. Just before WWI broke out.
It was a time the european powers knew their uniforms had to be more practical, rather than dashing. So with a mix of both, I feel these uniforms still resemble a sense of grandeur.
My one fave are the hussars. |
